2D Transperineal Ultrasound in females: A tool for pelvic floor physios

This 3-hour workshop will teach you the skills to use 2D transperineal ultrasound imaging for the female pelvic floor in your clinic. This evidence-based course is designed for experienced physiotherapists working in pelvic floor rehabilitation, as a tool to compliment assessment, biofeedback and management.

This workshop involves a one-hour, pre-workshop lecture (recorded) and a two-hour, face-to-face practical where you will be scanning.

You will learn:

  • Basic machine use & care
  • Safety, hygiene, & patient prep
  • Scope of practice for physios
  • 2D image acquisition and evaluation of evidence-based measures in both supine and standing
  • (Bladder volume, pelvic organ mobility and pelvic floor muscle measures)
  • Clinical application of 2D Transperineal Ultrasound

Practical Participation is required from all who attend.

Cost: $275 inc GST

Please note: the pre-workshop lecture is available as a stand-alone, online course for purchase for those who cannot attend the face-to-face practical.

Pelvic Floor Pain Assessment, Treatment Techniques and Troubleshooting

This 2 hour workshop is designed for you to practise your pelvic floor pain assessment and treatment skills in a supportive environment.

It involves:

  • Clinical reasoning for approaching a pelvic floor assessment differently to other clients.
  • Identifying verbal and non-verbal cues from your client and the importance of these for building trust and a strong rapport.
  • Practising the points of an initial pelvic floor pain assessment and treatment session and discussing its relevance to the pelvic floor fascial and muscular anatomy, and vaginal mucosa.
  • Practising treatment progressions and discussing the appropriate use of pelvic wands, dilators and EMG as treatment aids.
  • Discussion of complex cases and troubleshooting

You will need to be able to volunteer as a participant for this practical.

Requirements:

Completion of WHTA Persistent Pelvic Pain (Genitourinary & Anorectal) Course,
or similar post-graduate certification, or to have worked clinically in women’s health with exposure to pelvic pain clients.

POP-Q Ax, Insertion of Gellhorn and Other Types of Pessaries

This 2 hour workshop is designed for you to practise using the POP-Q assessment system and develop your pessary insertion skills.

It involves clinical reasoning for using and troubleshooting various types of pessaries, including gellhorns. We will go through the points of the POP-Q system (GH, PB, TVL, C, D, Aa, Ba, Ap, Bp) and discuss its relevance to the pelvic floor fascial and muscle anatomy.

Each participant will be able to choose one pessary to practise. This can include rings, cubes, dishes, rings with knob, donuts, and gellhorns.

Participants will also have the opportunity to practise one or two more pessaries that have been chosen by other participants. The pessaries practised will depend on the skill level of those attending.

You will need to be able to volunteer as a participant for this practical.

Requirements:

Completion of either Taryn’s Hallam’s Advanced POP SUI Course or similar post-graduate certification

Cost: $297 inc GST & one pessary
