Dietetics
Dietetics is the science of how food and nutrition influence health, wellbeing, and disease management. Dietitians use evidence-based nutrition strategies to support people through different life stages, medical conditions, and health goals. Dietetics goes beyond general nutrition advice – it involves individualised assessment and tailored guidance that considers your health history, lifestyle, symptoms, and goals.
At All Women’s Health, dietetics is integrated with our broader women’s health approach. Nutrition can play a significant role in hormonal health, pelvic health, recovery from pregnancy, and the management of persistent pain conditions.
What to Expect in a Dietetics Session
A dietetics consultation is collaborative and personalised. During your appointment, your dietitian may:
- Discuss your health history, symptoms, and goals
- Review your current eating patterns, lifestyle, and daily routine
- Consider relevant factors such as sleep, stress, digestion, hormonal changes, or medications
- Provide evidence-based nutrition education
- Work with you to develop practical, realistic strategies to support your health
Rather than prescribing rigid diets, dietitians focus on sustainable, achievable changes that fit within your life.
You may leave your session with:
- Personalised nutrition recommendations
- Meal or snack structure guidance
- Strategies to manage specific symptoms
- Education around key nutrients relevant to your life stage
- Follow-up planning to support ongoing progress

How Dietetics Can Help
Nutrition needs change throughout different stages of life. Dietetic support can be particularly valuable for women navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, or chronic pain.
Prenatal (Pregnancy)
During pregnancy, nutrition supports both maternal health and fetal development. A dietitian can help with:
- Meeting increased nutrient needs (iron, iodine, folate, calcium, protein)
- Managing nausea, reflux, or food aversions
- Supporting healthy weight gain
- Managing gestational diabetes
- Optimising energy levels and overall wellbeing
Postnatal
The postpartum period places high nutritional demands on the body, particularly during recovery and breastfeeding. Dietetics can support:
- Postpartum recovery and healing
- Nutritional needs for breastfeeding
- Rebuilding energy levels and nutrient stores
- Practical nutrition strategies for busy parents
- Supporting overall wellbeing during a demanding life stage
Menopause
Hormonal changes during menopause can affect metabolism, bone health, cardiovascular health, and body composition. Dietetic support may focus on:
- Maintaining bone health and muscle mass
- Supporting heart health
- Managing weight changes
- Addressing symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disruption, or blood sugar fluctuations
Persistent Pain
Nutrition can influence inflammation, energy levels, gut health, and overall recovery capacity. For people experiencing persistent pain conditions, dietetics may assist with:
- Supporting anti-inflammatory dietary patterns
- Improving energy availability for recovery and rehabilitation
- Managing gut health and digestion
- Reducing dietary factors that may contribute to systemic inflammation or fatigue

Jacqui brings a completely judgement-free and sensible approach to eating, believing that all foods have a place in the diet! You can expect empathetic care and practical support from her sessions, as she helps you navigate the confusing nutrition world.
Outside of being a Dietitian, Jacqui loves anything involving adventure – travelling, camping, mountain biking, skiing and dancing, wherever it is socially acceptable.
